Something is brewing with the Apple and it’s plans for it’s online music streaming service, Lala. Apple acquired the music service back in December. No one really knew why Apple bought them up but signs are pointing to something huge and it has to do with the cloud. There are several hints that are pointing to an Apple music streaming cloud.

Our first hint is by examine the current message given by Apple. If you check out Lala right now you will see a message stating that the site is no longer accepting new users. If your a current user, you have till May 31st to get your use of what is left of it. Any outstanding credits that users have will be rolled into the iTunes store as a credit. Also, users will get a credit for the amount of song purchases on the online music service. So they are basically the users that are currently with Lala’s service into iTunes. Perhaps because they are going to just let the users do the same thing they were doing on Lala except now they will just you Apple’s iTunes own style cloud platform to do it. They are going to roll their credits into there. I mean wouldn’t they just give them their money back if they weren’t planning on providing the same service.

The next hint towards Apple’s music streaming cloud has to do with the $1 billion dollar data center they are building in Maiden, N.C. Could this facility be used to power an internet version of iTunes. Reducing downloads and allowing for personal storage? Maybe storage of music? Well, I guess we’ll see. All the signs are pointing towards it. I’m hoping it will tie in MobileMe as well. Lets’ just see if they announce this at the big conference on June 7th.
